San Luis Obispo Downtown Christmas Parade Dec 4th - 7 pm |
|||
Troupe Mayyadah and Dana's Blue Moon Haven were joined by Teresa's Students of Tribal for the San Luis Obispo Christmas Holiday Parade. We all met at 6:30 next to Mission Plaza on Broad St. There were Big bands, firetrucks with Xmas lights, there were gymnasts, flag twirlers and cheer leaders. Funny looking guys on bicycles and a large group of Vespa Scooter riders all staged in our area. At 7pm, somewhere across town the parade started, we were about the middle in the line up. so it took about 45 mins. before we began our march. We had a banner and sign at the front, next the drummers, and then 16 of the most lovely dancers to be found. The gals were dressed in their finest tribal/gypsy attire, as you will see below. Tek, tek, tek, tek, set the time and the beledi rhythm of drums and zils echoed off the walls of downtown SLO. It was a huge crowd that greeted us as we turned the corner, for the next hour and a quarter we set the beat for all the fans who had been waiting hours for a chance to be entertained by the best Troupe of dancers on this planet. Through thundering cheers and admiration the gals danced, spinning in formation, weaving intricate patterns down the street and leaving nothing but adoring fans in their wake. After the event most met for margarita's, mexican food and good times. Everyone I spoke with had a splendid time, Love to all and Happy Holidays, Roger 16 Dancers, 3 drummers, 3 banner carriers and a roving photographer It takes a village to look this good. |
